Izdihar Raks - Myrtle Beach Belly Dance

After attending her first Belly Dance class in 2006 with instructor Zarifa of Charlotte, NC, Izdihar quickly discovered that this art form was the perfect medium to blend her love of dance and her love of learning world cultures. A fan of Egyptian Oriental style (aka Raks Sharki or Cabaret), Izdihar has also studied Egyptian pop, Shabbi, Romany, fusion belly dance, and the many folkloric dances of Egypt and other parts of the Middle East. Her love of knowledge kept her attending classes in Charlotte with Zarifa, Naima Sultana and Yasmine. Izdihar also studies with Karen Barbee of San Antonio.
Izdihar is also a self-professed workshop enthusiast and continues to learn more about this beautiful dance by continuing to attend events with both national and international instructors such as Munique Neith of Barcelona, Yousry Sharif, Mohammed Shahin, Virginia of Miami, Tito Seif, and Sadie.
While in Charlotte, Izdihar was a member of three troupes: the award winning Troupe Sholeh, The Mirage, and Zahras al Arabi.
Since moving to the Myrtle Beach area, Izdihar began teaching and directs and performs with her student troupe--The Myrtle Beach Habinas. She continues to perform as a soloist at various events and on occasion her daughter, Jala, will perform with her.
Izdihar teaches group classes for all ages as well as private lessons. After relocating to South Carolina in January of 2014, Izdihar earned a Belly Dance teacher certification through Belly Queen of New York.
